I am trying to text with my daughter (she has an ipad). The entire conversations show up on my computer (in Messages) whether or not I send them from there or from my phone (also in Messages). In Messages on my iphone, only my side of the conversation shows up. I cannot see her response in Messages on my phone, only on my computer. How can I fix this?

This Post is in the Mountain Lion area.
That version of the OS does not have Messages that can do Text Forwarding (SMS) linked to the iMessages account.
If you have an iPhone and an Mac that you could be sending iMessages from the Apple ID or the iPhone Number.
If she has an iPad only then she will only be using an Apple ID. (Unless it happens to be an iPad with a SIM Card)
Incoming all look grey in terms of the bubbles. (not much use as to how it was sent and which ID or Number was used)
Outgoing ones should be blue bubble.
It is likely to be a question of checking the ID of the iMessages that arrive by comparing the "TO" spot info on a Mac and the Details on the iPhone.
Check the Settings > Messages > Send and Receive on your iPhone.
It should list both the number and the Apple ID and both should be ticked.
Sometimes, even though you cannot change it the number loses the tick to say it is active.
If this happens it can lose the sync with the Apple ID.
You will need to turn Off the app then On again after a small wait then allow the Number to verify before adding back the Apple ID.
At this point the pop up will appear back on the Mac which you need to accept again.
On the Mac and the iPhone check the Contacts app is syncing using the same service such as iCloud.
If the Address Card on the iPhone is missing her number then the chats will not sync.

Texts not showing up in Messages on IPhone.
